“Working at the Butter factory is always an enjoyable experience because of the wonderful and varied range of exhibitions featured each year to an audience of regular and new visitors.”
Denise Edwards, CBFAC Volunteer
“Dear Butter Factory. I want to thank you all for an awesome month. It was my first exhibition and I felt very supported. I had some brilliant conversations with staff and volunteers and learned a lot.
Thank you”
David Thorogood, Exhibiting Artist
“As a volunteer I experience the best of what the Butter Factory has to offer. I meet people from everywhere who are interested in art, who love the building, its history, the lovely ambience and its unique connection with our community.”
The Cooroy Butter Factory was established in 1915, with the current brick building finishing construction in 1930. The new building, equipped with butter roller, churn room, cold storage, and testing rooms, rapidly became one of the model factories for Queensland.
A downturn in the dairy industry forced the closure of the factory in 1975. Since then, the building has been through several rebirths; as a restaraunt, TAFE and now an Art Centre. The complex was purchased by Noosa Council in 1991, and in 2016, handed the management of CBFAC to the community organisation, Cooroy Future Group Inc.
