This Pottery Teaser class will give you an introduction to our community pottery studio and the world of ceramics. We will have a look at the basics of hand building and wheel throwing over two mornings.
Includes clay and a selection of your best piece to be fired* (both bisque and glaze firing). All materials supplied.

Join us for a creative and inspiring morning at our Community Glaze Day – a chance to connect with fellow makers and put the finishing touches on your ceramic pieces.
You’ll be working with our beautiful, in-house studio glazes, crafted to enhance the unique character of your work. Whether you’re familiar with our glazes or trying them for the first time, our team will be there to guide and support you.

This beginner course will guide you through the fundamentals of hand-building techniques. You will explore various materials, tools, and decoration methods, gaining a comprehensive understanding of ceramics, as well as techniques for creating functional and artistic pottery pieces.

If you’re looking to start your pottery journey, or get back to the basics, this course is for you! Over 8 weeks participants will learn the basics of wheel throwing such as centreing, pulling, shaping and progress to more advanced methods.
Students will also learn for to finish their work by learning the technical and design-based final touches such as trimming.

Take your ceramics practice to the next level with this course designed for those who have already completed a beginner course or have some prior hand-building experience, this course focuses on refining techniques, exploring more complex forms, and developing your individual style.

TERM 4 – Commencing 7 October 2026
Wed 1.00pm-3.00pm
For those potters experienced in wheel throwing and who want to go to the next level: learn how to produce cylinders, bowls and lidded spheres. The 8 week course is divided into blocks concentrating on shape and increasing size (from 1kg, 2kg and 3kg). The focus will be on cylinders for the first block, bowls for the second block and the final block will be spheres and lids.

Greg Hamilton has been a professional ceramic artist for over 40 years and has exhibited extensively in Australia and overseas. Greg’s work is inspired by the natural environment and his travels around the world. He is particularly interested in exploring the relationship between form and surface, and the way each in which these elements can be used to create unique and beautiful pieces.
With over 40 years of experience as an artist, Helen is passionate about sharing her love of art with others. She considers clay to be her “true” medium and her work combines hand building, wheel-throwing, and sculptural techniques to create functional art and sculptures. Helen holds qualifications in Art and Cultural History, Indigenous Arts Management, and Ceramics.
A passionate ceramicist, Tracey often works alongside a group of female wood firers and likes to experiment with different clays and modalities. Inspired by her connection to nature and the Japanese art of Kurinuki, Tracey recently presented her work in a pop up at Caloundra Reginal Gallery. She also runs workshops, assists in a pottery studio, and tutors an intermediate hand building class.
Stephen Robert’s career as a potter began in 1990 at Flaxton Gardens Pottery. In the years since he has made “zillions of pots” and still has the same fascination for this time-honoured craft. He is inspired by other great potters across the Sunshine Coast, Korea, and Japan. Stephen says it is a privilege to share his experience with others through classes and workshops.
